Founded in 2013 by joint Creative Directors Scott Pokorny and Timothy Barnes, SCIMM Dance Company is an independent Melbourne-based contemporary dance company. Created with the intention to provide opportunities for artists to explore their creativity in a safe and nurturing environment, they also allow for continuous development of technical and performance skills. SCIMM Dance Company includes their junior arm SCIMM Platforms Youth Company which provides opportunities for dancers under 18 years of age to gain the experience of how a professional company operates, and SCIMM Dance Professional for professional dancers over 18 years of age. The trademark technical precision that SCIMM are renowned for can be seen throughout the works they perform each year. Their unique style of fusing classical-based contemporary with modern themes results in high quality contemporary dance works that appeal to the masses. Coming into their eighth season, the company continues to provide entertaining and moving pieces by their talented and passionate performers and choreographers. Never failing to find the perfect balance between artistic and conceptual integrity, SCIMM are a favourite amongst dancers and non-dancers alike and a pleasure to watch in their element.
